Botanical Sculpture
The sculptures are created from natural botanical elements found and/or collected from botanists/naturalists who dry and preserve specimens. They are either stand-alone sculptures or can be installed on a wall or pedestal. They are glued together with wood glue and lacquered for preservation. Some paint and glazes are used to enhance natural colors and/or create fantastical embellishments. Additional made-made items I have collected are often incorporated to embellish the theme – i.e. cast-iron creatures, vintage brooches, and various object d’art.
