Colored Pencil Drawings
These drawings on archival paper were an experiment in blending tones with colored pencils. I had never used colored pencils before and they taught me a new way to achieve color saturation. I started drawing while at a friend’s home in the late Summer of 2020–helping care for her husband who was terminally ill. During these months I only had access to colored pencils. Drawing allowed me to focus on beauty while I was surrounded by sadness, pain and loss. Drawing, because it is not messy, also permitted me to be by my friends bedside — quietly being a comfort to him during his last peaceful days.
