Painting on Glass with Sculpture in-relief
The paintings on glass with a sculptural element in-relief were an extension of my experiment painting on a glass surface. I liked the result so much I kept using glass instead of canvas, but this time incorporated mixed media elements. The glass allows me to work with no original texture – particularly useful for creating sky and water surfaces. I use a combination of water-based opaque paint with opalescent pigments to enhance hues and create shimmery effects. Multiple layers of paint and glazes add texture and dimension. Some paintings also have gold leaf enhancements. The sculptural elements are made from real-life botanical elements.
