Caterpillar Microworld is a stand-alone sculpture made of a weathered tree branch with tunnels dug into the wood by burrowing insects. The structure looks like the caterpillars chose it for these cave-like properties to protect their nests. Vintage brass caterpillar broaches inhabit this woodland dwelling. The dried husk from an avocado creates a safe nest-like setting. Flowers petals and tiny polished quartz stones embellish this glimmering habitat. The sculpture is constructed with wood glue, glazed with lacquer and painted with pearlized paint pigments to enhance the natural hues.
